Speaking Of Mothers
The best way to carry your child
Being a mother (or even a grandmother involves A LOT of lifting and carrying. When this is not done with proper form it can put a significant strain on the body affecting your biomechanics and posture. Over time this can accumulate and result in aches and pains which is often the last sign that our bodies are struggling. So here's a few tips to save your bodies from exhaustion….
Alternate
Get used to carrying your child on both hips
Engage
Always remember to engage your core and pelvic floor when lifting.
Don’t hing
Avoid hinging from the waist to life kids
Instead bend at the knees and keep your back straight
Keep It midline
When possible carry/lift your child (and capsule) to midline close to your core
An easy way to check if the days , weeks or years of carrying and lifting has caused stress to your body is to look at yourself in the mirror. Are your head , shoulders and hips level or is one higher than the other?
If it's the latter, it might be time to seek care for your body.
